Medieval Garden

This was a poem (of sorts) that I produced for a writing group’s home assignment:

Erupting from wood
that’s darkened with age,
pale funghi appear.
A feathered fennel, with talents of ease towers over
Verbena patches,
Wormwood and costmary,
Caraway and dill.
The young lady, to bless her sunny day dreams
Will rest on the garden’s pillow of peppermint, camomile and rose.
And chant to envision the face of her
loved one to come.
